Any country bounded by water is likely to be home to designers hard at work reinventing swimwear to fit their particular country’s fashion aesthetic, whether it’s sophisticated swimwear from France, sexy numbers from South America, or fashionable suits from Milan that utilize the newest fabrics and notions.
For those who don’t want to look like every other girl on the beach, Allure Swimwear at the Royal Hawaiian Center, has developed a reputation for carrying the most exclusive international lines, ranging from high-end Nina Ricci, celebrity driven Elizabeth Hurley, and every style under the sun from France, Canada, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Italy, Australia and the United States.
Recent arrivals include the newest suits from Aqua Bendita, designed in Miami using only the finest fabrics, ribbons and accessories from Italy and France, and made in Columbia. The line is exclusive in Hawaii to Allure Swimwear. The suits have the magic combination of functionability with style Touches of embroidery and other details make them popular with girls who want to stand out on the beach.
The extra sparkle of sequins doesn’t hurt. One of the bikinis available in the shop, the Bendita Francia, was featured in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
Not to be outdone, Shan designs, out of Canada have the French flair of Montreal.
And also included in the mix are Janine Robin and Aubade, houses rooted in the lingerie business, that bring the same intimate fit and high-end fabric to their swimwear designs.
Any of the suits is bound to turn heads. That is the goal, right? Otherwise, you’d be in board shorts.
