After graduating with Distinction in Art and Design from Cambridge University and Honors in Fashion Design from Kingston University, Hannah moved to Italy to work for MaxMara.
In 2001, she joined the LVMH Group in Paris to work with Michael Kors on fashion and accessories. While with the LVMH Group, she became Artistic Director for Jewelry at Celine and most recently has designed pieces for Chloë. Her experience covers fashion design, knitwear design, accessory design, and illustration.
Hannah will be combining her industry experience and hands-on skills to develop a program in accessories that includes fashion jewelry, small leather goods, bags, footwear, hats and scarves. Along with her years of experience, she will also bring her extensive knowledge of the European fashion industry and its trends to Academy students.
"My career in fashion to date has enabled me to travel to many different countries and to work with many inspirational people; I hope that I am a reflection of all of these different experiences," she says.
During her time in the fashion industry, Hannah says that one role specifically interested her in teaching.
"One aspect of my job that I particularly enjoyed was working closely with interns who came to the companies, creating projects for them that would showcase their talent," she says. "It is this that fueled my desire to begin a career in teaching."
The first class in the program, An Introduction to Body Adornment, will provide students an overview of accessories and a specific look at how they have evolved over time. Students will have the opportunity to see how designers interpret the genre and sketch out new and inspirational ideas for accessories. The class will be available onsite in Spring 2010 with no prerequisites.
"I hope to show students how to take their ideas from initial concept to final product," she says. "Research and illustration has always been one idea that is of particular interest to me and I hope to share this passion with my classes."
