Alternative Engagement Jewelry – Stud Earrings

Friday 8 July 2011

Traditionally, a groom to be would propose to his intended with a fabulous diamond set engagement ring. However, these days, an increasing amount of younger couples are looking for new and exciting ways of proposing, which includes proposing with unconventional, alternative engagement jewelry. Stud earrings have become all the rage when it comes to alternative engagement jewelry. Why stud earrings?
  • Stud earrings are relatively more affordable than diamond engagement rings. Stud earrings usually feature less expensive diamonds and/or precious gemstones and commonly require a decreased amount of craftsmanship to produce than actual diamond engagement rings. As such, they are significantly more affordable than the conventional diamond engagement ring.
  • Stud earrings are not as diversified as engagement rings. Stud earring designs are relatively simple, featuring a solitaire diamond or precious gemstone set in a prong or bezel setting. As such, it is considerably easier to shop for stud earrings as there aren’t a lot of options when it comes to this type of alternative engagement jewelry.
  • Stud earrings are favored by those couples who cannot be bothered with wearing a ring on their left ring finger for the rest of their lives. There are those who are not comfortable with wearing rings on their finger and would rather wear earrings or a necklace as an indication of their upcoming nuptials.
  • Stud earrings are generally more durable than engagement rings as they are not subjected to the continual wear and tear which is involved in wearing an engagement ring. As such, stud earrings will not require as much care or maintenance as a diamond engagement ring normally would.
  • Diamond stud earrings are less conspicuous as engagement jewelry. For those couples who are looking for a more understated way of indicating their commitment stud earrings are the perfect choice.
