Inspired by her style hero, Coco Channel, and her well-documented trips to Scotland with her lover, The Duke of Westminster, Holly experimented with the most British of fabrics for AW11 - tweed. But it was of course given the playful Holly Fulton touch with bumble-bee black and yellow nubby tartans cut into a swinging full-skirt edged with beads, or a fur-trimmed coat styled with a brasserie and Holly's sparkling more-is-more accessories.
The highlight of any Holly Fulton show are always the designer's off-the-wall prints and for AW11, they were hot hot hot. Surreal Elsa Schiaparelli-inspired red lips collided with New York city sky-scrapers and clouds in striking, beautifully bright shades that popped. Elegant, manicured hands with perfectly painted red nails were clashed with turquoise python and sparkling off-kilter Swarovski crystals as well as studs, creating a real sartorial treat.
While Holly's cute sixties silhouettes and flapper-esque mini-dresses were styled to the max and oh-so-cute, what really stole the show for AW11 were her lighter, silk-crepe full-length dresses and palazzo pants that moved so beautifully as the models' walked.
So Holly, in our dreams, we'd love a pearl-encrusted tee and some lip splattered pants for next autumn please, and oh yes, some of your studded bow Louboutins! And don't worry - when we wear an outfit quite as fabulous as this, we plan on taking a cab...
